Digital Splash is back for 2019! The Digital Splash Awards are an annual celebration of photography, brought to you by Wilkinson Cameras. Open to UK photographers, the Digital Splash Awards, sponsored by Epson, is a monthly themed photo competition with the chance to win a £100 voucher to spend at Wilkinson Cameras. The winner of each monthly competition will then go head to head in the Grand Final at the end of the year for a chance to win a further £500 voucher and be crowned ‘Digital Splash Photographer of the Year 2019’! Digital Splash Awards 2018: The Winners
Last year saw over 1300 images entered and as usual the standard of entries was extremely high. Photographers were competing for the title of ‘Digital Splash Photographer of the Year 2018’ and £500 to spend at Wilkinson Cameras. Our expert panel of judges saw some fantastic images last year and had to make the tough decision of who would be crowned ‘Digital Splash Photographer of the Year 2018’.
1st Place: James Rushworth
Taking 1st place in The Digital Splash Awards 2018, and the title ‘Digital Splash Photographer of the Year 2018’ and winning another £500 in Wilkinson Cameras vouchers is James Rushforth with his entry to the Sport category.
His entry, “Making the exposed traverse on pitch 4 of ‘Via ‘Myriam’ at Cinque Torri, in the Italian Dolomites. Lastoni di Formin and the ridge of Croda da Lago can be seen in the background.”
We’ve been very fortunate to see a number of James’ stunning photographs as he has entered several of the categories in this year’s competition and won two of them! The Sports category judges really loved the perspective in this picture, the look of determination on the climber’s face and the perfect exposure, especially given the precarious position that James appears to be in.
2nd Place: Richard Adams
In 2nd place in the 2018 Digital Splash Awards is Richard Adams, with his entry to the Animal Kingdom theme. Richard has won another £300 in Wilkinson Cameras vouchers. Congratulations Richard!
There is something quite magical about this startled little mouse caught out in the snow that has been superbly captured by Richard. Within the Animal Kingdom category, Richard’s image was unanimously chosen to be the winner by all the judges… a DSA first!
3rd Place: Mike Martin
In 3rd place in the 2018 Digital Splash Awards is Mike Martin, with his entry to the Portrait, Fashion & Wedding theme. Mike has won another £100 in Wilkinson Cameras vouchers. Congratulations Mike!
The judges comments were that “this image really stood out in the crowd both for its technical excellence and creativity. The image is impactful and the light in the subject’s eyes really add to the overall image, which on the whole is very well lit.”
